In 2018, Eve Anne McCarron and Liam Porter from the Local Enterprise Office asked me to create an artwork for a project called 'Donegal - We Make Things' which they initiated to showcase and celebrate some of their longstanding manufacturing clients. The project was a great success and the businesses were the subject of a book written by Liam and a film by photographer Paul McGuckan. The project has since gone on to feature on RTÉ Nationwide twice and I got to meet broadcaster Anton Savage at the opening ceremony in the iconic Buncrana cinema. He's so down to earth and is a brilliant compere.
For my part in the project, I created a bespoke print which was then personalised to reflect the activities of each of the businesses. It was great project to be involved and it was fascinating to learn the storied behind the work all these manufacturers were doing in the hills of Donegal. The print was designed to reflect our geographic position at the northeastern edge of Ireland but also show how we were connected to the world by what we can produce.
